Look what we found…

Our SXSW showcase from 2009. This showcase was killer, and Meowpoww never posted the video. I thought 2 years later would be an appropriate time to post such a thing. You know us here at the meow, we keep things relevant. So please allow me to introduce The 2009 SXSW showcase brought to you by, Meowpoww Media, Loco Nunca and Exemplary Records.

Also, our good friends at Loco Nunca, released a self made and self invented product and commercial, that night at the end of the show. I would now like to show this to you. For those of you who are faint of heart or hate things that are hilarious… This commercial is not for you.

Russian Circles release new album

Chicago instrumental post-metal trio Russian Circles return to the studio today to begin recording material for a fourth album. Brandon Curtis of The Secret Machines & Interpol who produced the band’s previous album Geneva is producing & mixing the new collection of songs at Phantom Manor in Chicago.

This marks the band’s first full-length to be released worldwide exclusively via Sargent House — the band’s longtime management company and record label that had previously released only the vinyl editions of its three previous albums.

Truth or Dare?

It was perhaps the very same parties at which we first discovered the joys of vodka that we were also introduced to the age-old game of Truth or Dare. But while our consumption of vodka has remained consistent, we’ll be honest– it’s been quite some time since we had to choose between those two words.

We’re more than happy to be reminded of one of our favorite party games growing up, though, and our longtime FOK, designer Chrissie Miller, has provided us with the perfect way to do just that. She’s created a video lookbook for her latest Sophomore collection, along with filmmaker Cass Bird, that explores the game with some new players. Actress Chloe Sevigny, Jen Brill, and another Kanon FOK, Lesley Arfin, all take part in revealing their secret fears and lusts, and there’s even a girl-on-girl kiss thrown into the mix. But we can’t tell you who it’s between– you’ll just have to watch for yourself to find out.

Robert Ellis. Top 10 at SXSW!

Our friend Robert Ellis, just got back from South By South West, the largest music festival in the world possibly. Thousands of people rush to Austin yearly to see and hear thousands of artists play over 200 live music venues through the course of one week. Of all the artists attending this shindig, Robert Ellis made Houston Press’s top 10 list. We agree that Robert should be on everyone’s top 10 list.

Check out who else made the cut…. HERE

Thom has the best moves.
